50 days and counting to Red V Blue kick off

What has taken an extra 12 months due to COVID delays is now under 50 days away and excitement is building in anticipation of the Red v Blue teams taking to the field for the opening whistle to sound at the Calrossy Anglican School Alumni Rugby games which is part of the 2022 Reunion Weekend. This event will also mark 21 years of the Calrossy Anglican School Rugby Program and celebrate the growth of the program which is now one of the highest participation sports at Calrossy secondary.

The recent team announcements sees Calrossy and Tamworth welcoming back players from all over with some players travelling over 700km to return to play one more game with old friends. The majority of our Alumni players are still playing competitive club rugby along with a large portion recently representing at higher levels. The Red v Blue matches will be of a high standard and will be a fun day for the whole family to enjoy a fun day out.

Calrossy Foundation Chair Karen Madirazza said “ The support from our Alumni has been amazing, the Red v Blue concept has grown significantly during the COVID hiatus to now include over 80 male and female alumni players and our under 16 boys and girls. We are very grateful for the generous support of our sponsors who joined us last Friday to mark 50 days until kick off for what will be a magnificent family day of rugby on October 1st. The funds raised across the Reunion Weekend will be helping to support the Calrossy Foundation – Scholarship Fund which is helping to change the shape of regional education.”

School Development Coordinator Michael Wilson said “The recent couple of years has been extremely difficult for everyone and I am thankful for the support of the players who have committed to play, our Sponsors and the local suppliers. With the recent announcement that the car park redevelopment on Calrossy’s William Cowper Campus we have been able to transfer these matches from Calrossy’s Goldsworthy Oval to the Scully Park Regional Sporting Precinct. I would like to sincerely thank the Wests Entertainment Group for their assistance to accommodate these matches.”
